‘Transit’

‘Transit’ is a series of portraits of commuters that travel to and from Dublin at peak times.

The interest in this project lies in the common phenomena of people commuting

to and from their work place.  Due to the growing population of Dublin and the

surrounding areas, the distance and time it takes for people to travel to their workplace

is growing incrementally.  The time spent commuting in many cases has become

paradoxical by nature, in that it is time lost from other activities that are considered

important and fundamental, yet this time becomes the individual’s private time

whereby they can read, think, listen to music, and in some cases enjoy the view.

The commute for many can be a private space in a public place, a time to reflect.
